Two undersized culverts were replaced in the vicinity of Snipe Lake, Alberta, a popular recreation area.  Due to the location of upstream oil and gas facilities, culvert gates were installed on two new 2400mm culverts to protect the fisheries and recreation values in Snipe Lake in the event of an upstream emergency. The creek diversion was facilitated by using a side grip vibratory pile driver to install a sheet pile coffer dam. The gates were installed on sheet pile footings to prevent settlement of these large structures in the clay subsoils.  Walkways, railings, and locked gate valves were installed to provide safe access for workers.
